Construction materials delivered across Unguja

Build Hub supplies concrete blocks, sand, aggregate, cement, crusher dust, pavers and steel to sites across Zanzibar island — from Stone Town lanes to beachfront resorts in the north and east. Every delivery is planned on the site's access, quantity and programme, and quoted in writing.

Where we deliver

Locations across Zanzibar island

These are the areas we are most often asked to supply. If your site is not named, it is almost certainly still reachable — send a map pin with your enquiry and we will quote the route.

Stone Town

Heritage restorations, boutique hotels and infill sites in the old town

Typical work

  • Restoration and refurbishment of existing masonry buildings
  • Boutique hotels, guesthouses and restaurants in converted properties
  • Small infill and extension works on tight urban plots

Delivery planning

  • Many streets are too narrow for a loaded tipper — material is often transferred to smaller vehicles or hand-carried from the nearest accessible point
  • Off-loading windows are short and there is rarely space to stockpile on the street; deliveries are best sized to what the site can take in and store the same day
  • Blocks, cement and steel are usually delivered in smaller, more frequent drops than on open sites

Nungwi

Beach resorts, villas and staff housing at the northern tip

Typical work

  • Resort construction, extensions and refurbishment cycles
  • Private villas and holiday homes
  • Staff accommodation, back-of-house and service buildings

Delivery planning

  • One of the longer routes from the Build Hub base — bulk loads are more economical than frequent small ones
  • Final approaches to beachfront plots can be soft sand; confirm the last stretch is passable for a loaded truck or plan a transfer point
  • Resort sites often restrict delivery hours around guest areas; agree the window in advance

Kiwengwa

Large resort programmes and residential plots on the north-east coast

Typical work

  • Large-format hotel and resort builds with phased block, sand and aggregate programmes
  • Residential and rental villa developments
  • Boundary walls, staff housing and ancillary buildings

Delivery planning

  • Good main-road access; the constraint is usually the site track and turning space rather than the route
  • Larger programmes benefit from call-off deliveries scheduled against pour and walling dates
  • Coastal exposure makes covered cement storage and raised steel racks essential on site

Paje

Kitesurf lodges, guesthouses and small hotels on the south-east coast

Typical work

  • Small and mid-size lodges, guesthouses and restaurants
  • Private homes and rental villas behind the beach
  • Extensions and upgrades between tourist seasons

Delivery planning

  • Access from the main road is straightforward; beach-side plots may need a transfer point for the final approach
  • Seasonal programmes are common — many owners build in the low season, so lead times should be agreed early
  • Sand and aggregate stockpiles need firm, clean ground away from the loose beach sand

Fumba

Planned residential and mixed-use development close to the Build Hub base

Typical work

  • Apartment and townhouse construction in planned developments
  • Individual plots and private homes
  • Commercial and community buildings within masterplanned areas

Delivery planning

  • Short route from the Build Hub base; well suited to frequent scheduled deliveries
  • Developments may have their own site rules on delivery hours, vehicle size and unloading zones
  • Multi-unit programmes are typically supplied on a call-off basis across a longer build period

Wider Unguja

Bwejuu, Jambiani, Matemwe, Pongwe, Uroa, Chwaka, Mangapwani, Bububu, Mbweni and inland sites

Typical work

  • Coastal lodges and villas along the east and west coasts
  • Schools, clinics, community and religious buildings
  • Agricultural, storage and light industrial buildings inland

Delivery planning

  • Every location is quoted individually on route, distance and access — send a map pin or a clear landmark with your enquiry
  • Inland tracks after rain and coastal soft-sand approaches are the two most common access issues; flag them early
  • Where a site cannot take a full truck, a transfer point or smaller vehicle is arranged as part of the quotation
How delivery is priced

What decides feasibility and cost

There is no flat island-wide delivery rate, and we do not publish one. Each order is quoted on the factors below, in writing, so there are no surprises at the gate.

Quantity and load size

A full truck of blocks or aggregate is priced very differently from a part load. Where a site can accept full loads, deliveries are fewer and more economical; where it cannot, smaller drops or a transfer point are arranged.

Site access

Narrow lanes, soft sand approaches, low branches, gates and turning space decide which vehicle can reach the site. Tell us honestly what the last stretch is like — it is easier to plan for than to discover on the day.

Route and distance

Each location is quoted on its route from the Build Hub base. Longer routes favour bulk loads scheduled ahead; short routes suit frequent call-offs against the programme.

Unloading

Tipped sand and aggregate need clean, firm ground clear of the access. Blocks, cement and steel need a flat area near the work and, for cement, cover. Someone must be on site to receive and sign.

Schedule

Manufactured items such as blocks and pavers are produced and cured to order, so the first delivery date is agreed against production. Bulk materials are sequenced so each arrives just ahead of the stage that needs it.
