Why interlocking paving suits Zanzibar sites
Interlocking pavers move load sideways through the joints into surrounding units, which makes them tolerant of ground movement in a way a poured slab is not. They can also be lifted and relaid — useful when services run under a driveway or a resort path has to be altered later.
In heavy rain the jointed surface drains at the joints instead of sheeting across a sealed slab, provided the bedding and sub-base were built properly.
